Virta’s acquisition of Northe fuses charging and fleet tech, fueling smarter, connected EV operations across Europe
22 Aug 2025

In a move charging up Europe’s electric mobility revolution, Finnish EV platform Virta has acquired Swedish fleet software specialist Northe. The 21 August 2025 deal brings together two innovation leaders to forge a unified powerhouse driving smarter, more connected electric fleet management.
The merger positions Virta as one of Europe’s most comprehensive EV fleet platforms, blending its expertise in smart charging and energy management with Northe’s digital tools for cost tracking, driver oversight, and operational optimization. For businesses electrifying their fleets, the partnership promises a single, seamless system instead of fragmented software and charging solutions.
“This partnership transforms us from a charging provider into a full-service fleet electrification platform,” said Virta CEO Jussi Palola. “We’re helping companies manage energy, costs, and charging in one place, simplifying the shift to electric vehicles.”
Virta already operates in more than 30 countries, powering an extensive network of smart charging infrastructure. Northe, known for its intuitive software among leasing and fleet operators in the Nordics, brings advanced management capabilities that complement Virta’s platform. The companies plan to integrate their systems in the coming months, combining data and digital services to help businesses gain deeper control over energy use and performance as they race to cut emissions and costs.
The acquisition arrives amid a surge in fleet electrification, one of Europe’s fastest-growing clean transport segments. Corporate and leasing fleets now account for nearly 60 percent of new EV sales across the EU. Analysts see the deal as a signal of the industry’s next phase: the fusion of infrastructure, data, and digital solutions to create end-to-end fleet services covering everything from billing and route optimization to energy intelligence.
Integration will require close alignment of data platforms and compliance with EU regulations, but experts remain optimistic. “This kind of strategic consolidation will shape the next era of Europe’s EV market,” said Henrik Larsen, mobility analyst at the Nordic Energy Forum. “Fleet operators want simplicity and reliability, and integrated platforms deliver both.”
With Virta and Northe joining forces, Europe’s EV landscape takes another leap toward a connected, data-driven future where fleets, chargers, and energy systems operate in sync, propelling the continent closer to a cleaner, smarter mobility era.
